This was Chuck Schumer in February 2020, slamming Trump for failing to remove Nicolás Maduro:
“The president brags about his Venezuela policy? Give us a break! He hasn’t brought an end to the Maduro regime. The Maduro regime is more powerful today and more entrenched today than when the president began. Maybe the best metaphor was his claim to bring democracy to Venezuela. There was a big policy there. And this is Chuck Schumer today, in January 2026, after Trump’s daring military operation successfully captured Maduro and brought the indicted dictator to face justice in New York:
“Let me be clear: Nicolás Maduro is an illegitimate dictator. But launching military action without congressional authorization and without a credible plan for what comes next is reckless.” [Chuck Schumer 2026]
Schumer went on to call the operation “dangerous,” a “violation of the law,” and warned it could lead to “endless war,” while pushing a War Powers resolution to block any further actions and accusing the administration of misleading Congress.
This flip-flop lays bare Schumer’s utter lack of principle. When Trump didn’t go far enough against Maduro, Schumer weaponized it to attack him as weak and ineffective. The moment Trump delivers the decisive blow Schumer once demanded—ending the regime and capturing the tyrant—Schumer suddenly discovers constitutional concerns, risks, and the horrors of “regime change.”
It’s not about Venezuela, democracy, or even Maduro. It’s pure, reflexive partisan opportunism: oppose Trump no matter what, even if it means contradicting yourself in the span of a few years. This kind of duplicity is why people rightly see Schumer as a total scum—always playing politics, never standing for anything real.
