The Melania Blackout: When Bitchy “Critics” Become Commissars

By Daiman: Teer for The Simpleton Star
The Hollywood Reporter has sharpened its knives, but the blades are rusted with bias. The recent headlines regarding the MELANIA documentary aren’t reviews; they are eulogies written before the body was even cold. We are witnessing a masterclass in media-driven sabotage, where a project’s merit is irrelevant compared to the political scalp the press hopes to collect.
Let’s be clear: even if MELANIA were the greatest documentary ever produced—a cinematic masterpiece of grace and insight—the “critics” would still brand it a failure. Why? Because in the current cultural landscape, anything associated with the name Trump must be destroyed to maintain the narrative. The press has abandoned its role as a mirror of reality and has instead become a tool of enforcement.
The irony is thick enough to choke on. These are the same outlets that screech about “fascism” and “Nazism” at every turn, yet they employ the very tactics they claim to despise. By coordinate-killing a film, blacklisting its message, and ensuring it is branded a “failure” regardless of its actual success or audience reception, they are acting as the true authoritarians. They don’t want you to watch and decide; they want to decide so you don’t have to watch.

This is a vile form of cultural gatekeeping. It’s puerile behavior dressed up in the tuxedo of “prestige journalism.” They obfuscate the truth of Melania’s story by burying it under a mountain of snark and politically motivated hit pieces. They fear her grace, but more importantly, they fear any narrative they cannot control.
For those of us who see through the leftist lens of cold, hard facts, the Hollywood Reporter’s desperation is a signal of the documentary’s power. If it were truly irrelevant, they would ignore it. Instead, they attack it with a ferocity that betrays their fear. They want to kill the movie because they cannot kill the curiosity of the American people. In their world, success is a matter of permission. In our world, the truth doesn’t ask for a press pass.

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” — Isaiah 5:20
This verse perfectly captures the inversion of truth we see in the media today. They celebrate the hollow and condemn the substantive, trading their integrity for a seat at the table of the “correct” opinion.
LET US PRAY:
Lord, give us the eyes to see through the smoke and mirrors of a dishonest media. Protect those who are unfairly maligned and give us the courage to seek the truth for ourselves. May we not be swayed by the “woe” of those who call darkness light, but remain steadfast in the clarity You provide. Amen.
